Paedophile jailed for multiple rape offences

|News, Sexual offences

A man who sexually abused two children has been jailed for 22 years with an extended licence of two years at Swansea Crown Court.

James Thomas, 42, denied the 21 offences which took place over a six-year period but having heard all the evidence at a trial earlier this year, the jury unanimously convicted him on all counts which included nine counts of rape involving one of the children.

Mandy Tobias of the CPS said: “Rape is a harrowing crime that has a devastating effect on the victim. Thomas repeatedly abused two children to satisfy his own desires, and now he will answer for his crimes thanks to the courage the children have shown in speaking out.”

At the sentence hearing on 16 May 2022, Thomas was imprisoned for 22 years with an extended licence period of two years and ordered to register as a sex offender for life.
