To ensure greater openness in the reporting of criminal proceedings, the CPS, the police and media representatives developed a joint protocol for working together.

CPS Wessex: Successful Hate Crime Cases in August and September 2022

During August and September this year, prosecutors from CPS Wessex secured successful outcomes in a variety of hate crime cases across the Magistrates’ and Crown Courts in Dorset, Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, and Wiltshire.

A man from the Isle of Wight has been jailed after he hit his wife over the head with a meat cleaver on Christmas Eve last year, causing her a serious head injury.

Southampton man guilty of attempting to murder woman in the New Forest

A 27-year-old-man has been found guilty of attempting to murder a woman after he seriously assaulted her and tried to drown her in boggy water by the side of Rollestone Road, Beaulieu.

Steven Hunter was sentenced today (28 July 2022) at Salisbury Crown Court.

He was jailed for five years.

A 40-year-old man from Eynsham, Oxfordshire, has been jailed after he was caught driving on the wrong side of the A419 dual carriageway and for injuring a police officer who he dragged along the road when he tried to escape.

UPDATED WITH SENTENCE: Alton man guilty of killing woman to fund his drug habit

Sentence update: Matthew Reynolds was sentenced to life imprisonment on Friday 10 June at Winchester Crown Court. He will serve a minimum of 14 years in prison.
