To ensure greater openness in the reporting of criminal proceedings, the CPS, the police and media representatives developed a joint protocol for working together.

A former Greater Manchester police officer has pleaded guilty to making and possessing indecent images of children over a 10-year period.

Thomas Woods, 34, was a serving police officer in the Salford area when he was arrested in December 2021.

Man jailed for sexually assaulting unconscious woman as taxi driver looked on

Omed Khalid Mahmood, 40 from Wigan, has been sentenced to nine years' imprisonment for sexually abusing an unconscious woman. Taxi driver Jojo Joseph Thirunilam, 49 from Warrington, has been sentenced to 18 months' imprisonment for aiding and abetting him to sexually assault her.
