Rosemary Ainslie, head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said: “We welcome the decision of the High Court today which reaffirms that the CPS was right to bring a prosecution in this case. 

“The messages exchanged between these officers concerned their policing duties and perspectives on those duties. The content was misogynistic, racist, sexist, homophobic, and discriminatory towards those with disabilities. It remains unfathomable that those tasked with upholding the law and protecting the public could think it right to share such grossly offensive material.

A Metropolitan Police officer has been convicted of misconduct in public office after stealing money from an Italian filmmaker who sadly died while visiting London.

Craig Carter, 51, pleaded guilty to taking money from the tourist's wallet after they collapsed and passed away on a visit to the capital in 2022.

A man has been imprisoned today (20 September 2024) for child sexual abuse of two young girls in Rotherham in the 2000s.

The Crown Prosecution Service prosecuted Neil King, 51, as part of Operation Stovewood, a major investigation into non-familial child sexual abuse and exploitation which took place in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, between 1997 and 2013.

Following a six-week trial at Woolwich Crown Court, Anjem Choudary, 57, was found guilty of directing a terrorist organisation, membership of a proscribed organisation and encouraging support for a terrorist organisation on 23 July. 

Khaleed Hussein, 29, was also found guilty of membership of a proscribed organisation on the same date. 

Two businessmen from Yorkshire have been sentenced for tax evasion of over £3.2 million, after they set up offshore companies to hide large profits from a land sale.
