Man convicted of murder of Police Sergeant Matt Ratana

A man has been convicted of the murder of Metropolitan Police Sergeant Matt Ratana.

Louis De Zoysa, 25, was found guilty at Northampton Crown Court today (23 June 2023).

Senior Crown Prosecutor Aisling Hosein of the CPS London North Homicide Team said: “The Crown Prosecution Service provided early advice in the days following the fatal shooting of Police Sergeant Matt Ratana. The CPS then worked closely and collaboratively with the entire investigative team led by Detective Chief Superintendent Nick Blackburn to bring this case to trial. We thank them all for their dedication.

"Police Sergeant Matt Ratana was well loved, admired, and respected by all who knew him and all who worked with him.

"We hope that this conviction gives his partner Su, son Luke, and all his family, friends, and colleagues some measure of comfort. Our thoughts are with them all.”
