A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been jailed for sexually assaulting a colleague in 2020.

Archit Sharma, 26, appeared at the Wood Green Crown Court today (9 June 2023), and was sentenced to 16-month imprisonment for sexually assaulting a female colleague while they were both on duty in December 2020.

On 4 December 2020 when Sharma was working in the North Area Basic Command Unit in Enfield, he sexually assaulted a female officer while they were both on duty at the Southgate Police Station.

A former South Wales police officer has pleaded guilty to more than 100 charges of inciting children to engage in sexual activity and forcing victims as young as 12 to make indecent images online.

Lewis Edwards, 23, of Bridgend, posed as a young teenager to groom children on Snapchat, gaining their trust before requesting images and videos that he covertly recorded.

Abdulahi Mohamed Mohamud, 38, of Surrey, was today sentenced to 14 years' imprisonment and two years' extended licence at Kingston Crown Court for the kidnap and rape of a vulnerable young woman.

In the early hours on 25 January 2022 Mohamud was driving around Soho when he spotted a young woman who had become separated from her friends and was lost in central London, semi-conscious and slumped in a doorway. Mohamud stopped his car and picked her up and put her in his car.  He then violently raped her before dropping her off on the street.

An ex-Government minister and former MP has been jailed for making and distributing indecent images of children.

Today (12 May 2023), Paul Clark, 66, who represented Gillingham between 1997 and 2010 and was the Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport from 2008 to 2010, was sentenced to 28 months imprisonment at Maidstone Crown Court today. He has also been issued with a 10-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order and must sign the sex offenders register. 

A retired teacher has been convicted of a series of sexual assaults on boys at two schools, one in Sussex and one in Wiltshire, over a 20-year period.

Following two trials, Piers Le Cheminant was found guilty of indecent assaults on boys while he was a teacher at Oakwood Boarding School in Chichester and Salisbury Cathedral School between the late 1960s and early 1980s.

Portsmouth Crown Court heard that complaints had been made about him at the time at both schools and, on each occasion, he was asked to leave the school.

A 24-year-old man was sentenced on 25 April 2023 following his guilty plea to kidnapping a six-year-old girl and sexually assaulting her in August 2022.

On 22 August 2022 the six-year-old had been playing with other children on a field in Droylsden. The children were building a den with sticks.

Lewis Jones offered to help them collect sticks. He then grabbed the girl under his arm, stuck his fingers in her mouth, and took her away from the area. One of the other children tried to follow but lost them.

An 84-year-old man has been jailed today for a number of sex offences against children.

Gerald Glancy from Rochdale pleaded guilty to fifteen offences including rape, sexual activity with a child and causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity.

Between October 2018 and June 2022 Glancy had been regularly engaging in sexualised conversations with children over web chats, which he then recorded.

During those conversations, he incited them to engage in sexual activity, whilst he himself engaged in a sexual act.
