Four men have been jailed (14 July 2023) at Winchester Crown Court for brutally attacking Frazer Brabant in October 2019, who died three months later from his horrific injuries.

Scott Neale, 35, Forhad Miah, 32, Lee Wood, 32 and James O’Connor, 25, were all found guilty of murder after a seven-week trial that concluded in June this year.

In addition, Scott Neale, Forhad Miah and Lee Wood were found guilty of conspiracy to cause grievous bodily harm with intent and violent disorder.

A man from Swindon has been jailed for eight years at Swindon Crown Court having admitted raping a woman.

Angus Corrie, 21, attacked the woman who was visiting his home with friends after a night out in Swindon in October last year.

The woman made it clear that she did not want to have sex with him, but Corrie forced himself on her and raped her, before she was able to escape and report what had happened to the police.

Regular contact between the CPS and police in Wessex has seen a reduction in delays on decisions and a positive shift in the number of rape cases charged in the area. 

Prosecutors in the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences unit at CPS Wessex have been working with police at a much earlier stage of their investigation to provide support and guidance. 

CPS Wessex, covering Dorset, Hampshire and Isle of Wight, and Wiltshire, has secured convictions in almost 85% of all hate crime cases this year.  Our prosecutors work closely with the police to ensure high quality casework and to deliver justice. 

As we approach the end of Hate Crime Awareness Week 2020, it is important that the public can have confidence that delivering justice for victims of hate crime is a priority for CPS Wessex.
