A former police officer has been sentenced today after he was found guilty of indecently assaulting a teen girl more than 25 years ago. 

Paul Harold, 47, was prosecuted by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) following an investigation by Staffordshire Police. 

In May 1997, Harold arrested the 15-year-old victim for shoplifting in Newcastle-under-Lyme. She was vulnerable and living in care at the time. 

When he took her to the police station he wrote his phone number on the back of her hand. 

A man responsible for running a global phishing service, used by scammers to trick people into handing over their details, has been jailed.

Zak Coyne, 24, used his technical expertise to facilitate extensive fraudulent conduct worldwide by creating and running a subscription-based service for fraudsters via a website called LabHost.

Malcolm McHaffie, Head of the Crown Prosecution Service’s Special Division, said: “Following a review of the evidence provided by West Midlands Police, we have authorised criminal charges in relation to the death of a 14-month-old child at a nursery in Dudley.   
“Noah Sibanda died following an incident at Fairytales Day Nursery in Bourne Street, Dudley on 9 December 2022.  

“Kimberley Cookson, 22, who was a nursery practitioner, has been charged with one count of gross negligence manslaughter. 

A former nurse who stabbed a record shop owner boss with a needle containing a muscle-relaxing anaesthetic has been jailed for attempted murder.

Darren Harris, 58, a nurse of 24 years’ experience has been sentenced to life imprisonment to serve a minimum of 15 years and 84 days at Leeds Crown Court on 11 April 2025 after being found guilty of attempted murder and having earlier pleaded guilty to administering a noxious substance.
