A man has been sentenced for causing the death of a pregnant woman and serious injuries to two children on the M66.

Adil Iqbal, 22, from Lancashire, was driving his vehicle dangerously on 13 May 2023. As seen by several witnesses, he was travelling at high speeds, very close to vehicles in front and undertaking on the A680, the A682 and the M66 motorway.

A police constable and an ex-officer who formed inappropriate relationships and engaged in sexual activity with vulnerable women they met while on duty have been jailed. 

West Midlands PC Anthony Ritchie, 46, and former officer Steven Walters, 55, took advantage of women they met between July 2013 and June 2014.

A 39-year-old man has been jailed for 18 years for raping a woman in her own home whilst awaiting trial for child sexual abuse offences.

Michael Levy, from Bamber Bridge, contacted the woman on Facebook in November 2022 and after exchanging messages they met up in January 2023.

A Peruvian man has been convicted of murdering his partner in Peru in a British court in a highly unusual case. 

Jorge Minaya-Garay had been living in Dartford, Kent with his girlfriend Karla Godoy, when they flew out to Peru together in September 2022. Karla never returned and her family raised the alarm when she failed to catch her flight home.
