A man who played a leading role in an organised crime group (OCG) which smuggled thousands of migrants has today been jailed.

Between October 2022 and June 2023, Ahmed Ramadan Mohamad Ebid, 42, from the UK conspired with others outside the UK to assist unlawful immigration by supplying maritime vessels for the purpose of illegally smuggling migrants from Libya to Italy.

Frank Ferguson, Head of the CPS Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division, said: “Following a review of the evidence provided by the Metropolitan Police Service, we have authorised two counts of sexual assault against Patrick Spencer MP.

“The charges follow two alleged incidents involving two separate women at the Groucho Club in central London in August 2023.

“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds all concerned that criminal proceedings against this defendant are now active and that he has the right to a fair trial.

Malcolm McHaffie, Head of the CPS Special Crime Division, said: “Following a review of the evidence from the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC), we have authorised criminal charges against a healthcare professional after the death of William Cameron, 38, in 2020.

“Mr Cameron died after being taken in custody at Loddon Valley police station, near Reading in Berkshire on 8 January 2020.

Malcolm McHaffie, Head of the Crown Prosecution Service’s Special Crime Division, said: “Following a review of the evidence from the Metropolitan Police and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), we have authorised criminal charges against a company and four individuals in relation to the death of 29-year-old Michaela Boor in 2018.

“Ms Boor died after being struck by falling bricks as she walked on the pavement past a building site on the corner of Burdett Road in Bow, east London, on 27 March 2018.

A man who was the first to be charged with encouraging serious self-harm online under Section 184 of the Online Safety Act 2023 has admitted his guilt.

Tyler Webb, 22, used the Telegram communications app to repeatedly tell a vulnerable 22-year-old woman to cut herself, and then to kill herself by hanging during a video call so he could watch, telling her she had nothing to live for and giving her methods to end her life.

A special constable who used his mobile phone to take photographs of body-worn police footage showing a victim of crime has been jailed.

William Heggs, 23, formerly a volunteer officer with Leicestershire Police, stored images of now deceased victim William Harty on his Snapchat account and showed the photographs to another officer.
