Man sentenced for multiple hate crimes

A man has been sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court for multiple hate crimes and assaults.

Rasheed Jama, 20, pleaded guilty to four offences from 20 June 2025, which included a racially aggravated assault on a police officer who was also subjected to antisemitic abuse.

Jama was also sentenced for three offences from 29 August 2025, which included a racially aggravated assault, and an offence of religiously aggravated harassment where antisemitic language was again used towards an officer.

Jama was sentenced to a total of 18 months’ imprisonment.

Paul Jenkins of the CPS said: “Hate crimes, of any form, are abhorrent and have no place in our society.

“The CPS will not hesitate to prosecute these offences whenever the legal test is met.

“We work closely with the police and our criminal justice partners to ensure that offenders are brought to justice and that the courts are made aware of any hostility shown as part of an offence.”
