Drug dealer convicted of manslaughter after woman fell to her death while trying to escape armed threats
A drug dealer has been convicted of manslaughter after a woman fell to her death from a third-floor balcony while attempting to escape threats and violence.
Jaiden Hassan-Agard, 19, of Southampton, was found guilty following a trial at Winchester Crown Court.
On 28 August 2025, Tia Langdon, 25, was at a flat in Cuckmere Lane, Southampton, when Hassan-Agard became enraged after accusing her and another woman of stealing drugs from him.
Armed with two machetes, he subjected both women to a prolonged period of intimidation, threats and violence.
During the incident, Hassan-Agard threatened to harm the women and assaulted Ms Langdon, breaking her nose.
The Crown Prosecution Service proved that his actions left Tia feeling frightened, trapped and desperate to get away.
Faced with the situation he had created, she attempted to escape from the flat via the balcony and fell to the ground below. She sadly died in hospital the following day.
James Foster, Specialist Prosecutor, of the Crown Prosecution Service, said: "Tia Langdon lost her life because of the fear, violence and intimidation caused by Jaiden Hassan-Agard’s actions.
"He subjected Tia and another woman to threats and erratic behaviour, creating a situation which left her feeling as if she had no safe means of escape.
"While nobody witnessed the precise moment she fell, prosecutors proved that Hassan-Agard's conduct was a significant cause of the events which led to her death.
"He then compounded the suffering of those involved by refusing to seek emergency help and continuing to threaten and control the other victim in the aftermath.
"Our thoughts remain with Tia’s family and loved ones, who have had to endure the devastating consequences of his actions.”
