Dangerous driver jailed for driving stolen bulldozer into pub

A man who stole his father’s bulldozer and then rammed a village pub with it has been jailed at Merthyr Tydfil Crown Court.

Daniel Morgan, 35, had been drinking at The New Inn in Cefn Rhigos on 4 December 2025. He became angry and threatened to return with a bulldozer.

Morgan then went to his father’s farm and took a bulldozer, using it to push an Isuzu truck out of the way as he drove out of the farm.

The bulldozer was then driven back to the pub where Morgan rammed into the front porch causing over £22,000 of damage.

Attempts were made by Morgan’s father, and another family member, to stop him by blocking his way with a truck and trailer, but Morgan drove the bulldozer over the vehicles and made off.

Ryan Randall of the Crown Prosecution Service said: “Daniel Morgan showed a complete disregard for the safety of other people who could have been in the pub.

“This wasn’t an accidental collision, but a threatened action which was then carried out, not only damaging a building and vehicles, but stopping a business from trading and impacting on the livelihoods of the landlord and farmer.

“Strong evidence presented by the Crown Prosecution Service resulted in guilty pleas.”

Daniel Morgan was sentenced on 14 May 2026 to 40 months’ imprisonment and was disqualified from driving for 3 years and 3 months. He was also ordered to take an extended driving test.
