Gorseinon man jailed for attempted murder

A twenty-year-old man who stabbed another man outside a pub in Gorseinon has been jailed at Swansea Crown Court.

The attack took place outside The New Lodge in Gorseinon, Swansea in the early hours of 22 June 2025.

Kane Evans had an earlier altercation with some people in a car outside the pub. The victim, Morgan Hopkins, intervened and calmed the situation, persuading Evans to move away.

A few hours later, Mr Hopkins was outside the pub when he was approached by Evans who had a knife in his possession, which he then used to stab Mr Hopkins multiple times.

Nia Sturgess from the Crown Prosecution Service said: “This was a sustained and brutal attack which caused terrible injuries.

“Kane Evans made a choice to bring the knife to the pub, and use it, and he now faces justice for his actions.

“The strong evidence presented by the Crown Prosecution Service resulted in guilty pleas.

“All too often, violence involving knives can have fatal consequences.

“Thankfully, that was not the case here, and we hope Mr Hopkins makes a full recovery.”

Kane Evans was sentenced at Swansea Crown Court on 19 December 2025 to 17 years and six months imprisonment with an extended licence of five years.
