Paedophile caught out at work party and sentenced for sexually assaulting a child
Ben Caunce was caught after he showed a colleague images on his phone at a social event. Police arrested Caunce and seized his electronic devices.
When his electronic devices were examined, 187 still pictures and 43 videos were found of category A, which is the most serious type. Some of them showed Caunce sexually assaulting a child.
Catherine Owen of the Crown Prosecution Service said: “Ben Caunce is guilty of sickening offences of abuse for his own sexual gratification.
“The digital evidence in this case left no doubt about the scale and seriousness of his offending.
“The Crown Prosecution Service is committed to bringing sexual predators to justice whenever our legal test is met.”
Ben Caunce was sentenced on 27 April 2026 to 16 years’ imprisonment, with a five year extended licence period, and was ordered to register for life as a sex offender. He was also given an indefinite Sexual Harm Prevention Order.
