Man jailed for raping teenage girl
A 34-year-old man who took a teenager to a caravan and raped her has been sentenced at Swansea Crown Court.
Leon Kidner walked with the 15-year-old girl to the caravan in Pendine, Carmarthenshire, where she was given alcohol and cannabis. He asked the girl to have sex with him and she refused, but when she fell asleep, he raped her.
Kidner was charged with three offences, which were denied, but a jury having heard all the evidence in the case convicted him of all three offences.
Samantha Mainwaring of the Crown Prosecution Service said: “Leon Kidner took advantage of the situation for his own sexual gratification.
“He used his power over the girl to intoxicate her, making her even more vulnerable to his attack.
“These convictions result from the Crown Prosecution Service presenting strong evidence to the jury, rebutting Kidner’s claim that the sexual acts were consensual.
“The victim showed courage in reporting the offences and supporting the case.
“Through her strength this rapist has been brought to justice.”
Leon Kidner was sentenced on 3 March 2026 to ten years’ imprisonment, and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for life. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender for life and a restraining order was imposed for life.
