Corrected press release: Community order for man who secured unauthorised access to a hospital’s computer data

|News, Cyber / online crime

On 16 January 2020, a press release was issued following the conviction and sentence of Daniel Mooney before the Stoke-on-Trent Court on the same day. The release was inaccurate in part and we apologise for that error.

We amend the details to the following:

'A former Royal Stoke Hospital employee who accessed the hospital computer has been given a 12-month community order.

'Daniel Mooney, 27, from Stoke-on-Trent, was sentenced today (Thursday 16 January 2020) at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court for securing unauthorised access to the hospital’s computer data between January and July 2017. He was also ordered to complete 160 hours of unpaid work and pay £2000 costs.'
