The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised Surrey Police to charge Nick Daly, 30, from Oxted, with nine communication offences related to sending hateful messages directed at Muslims and Jewish people.

He is also charged with leaving a threatening message for an MP, possession of an offensive weapon, and possession of a class B drug. The alleged offending took place between 27 January and 7 May this year.

He is due to appear at Guildford Magistrates' Court on Saturday, 9 May.

Kris Venkatasami, from the CPS, said: “Prosecutors have authorised criminal charges against Nick Daly following a review of the evidence referred to us by Surrey Police.

“Eight of the 12 counts relate to sending anti-Muslim communications to a Muslim organisation and one count relates to antisemitic messages sent to the Israeli embassy. A further count relates to sending communication threatening death or serious harm to an MP’s office.

“We have also authorised charges of possessing an offensive weapon and an amount of cannabis.

“We remind all concerned that criminal proceedings are active and Mr Daly has the right to a fair trial.

“It is vital that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.”
