Woman who abducted baby in a pram in Blackpool jailed

|News

A woman has been jailed today after pushing away a seven-month-old baby in a pram, parked by her mother outside a Blackpool shop.

The baby’s mother chased Nicolette Goldrick, 51, and stopped her getting away.

Goldrick was jailed for 12 months at Preston Crown Court today after admitting her guilt. A restraining order was also made for five years.

Tom Snape, Senior Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service North West, said: “Nicolette Goldrick’s brazen actions caused unimaginable terror as she attempted to abduct a baby.

“This incident encapsulates every parent’s worst nightmare, forcing her mother to chase after her.

“Goldrick’s abuse to the officers upon her arrest suggests she has little remorse for her actions.

“I hope the baby’s parents can begin to move forward knowing Goldrick has faced the consequences of her actions.”

Just before 12 noon on 10 May 2025, Goldrick walked up to a seven-month-old baby in her pram, which was outside a shop on Central Drive, Blackpool. She took off the pram brake and pushed the pram down the street.

Her mother, who was paying for a delivery at the shop, shouted after her and stopped her a short distance down the street taking the pram back from Goldrick.

Goldrick said nothing as she walked away from the area.

Goldrick returned to the area near the shop later that afternoon and was subsequently arrested by police.

She verbally abused officers as they led her to the police van and once inside the van, she spat at one of them.

Goldrick pleaded guilty to child abduction and assaulting an emergency worker on 28 July 2025, at Preston Crown Court.

At the sentence hearing on 7 October 2025, the court heard a victim personal statement read out on behalf of the parents where they stated that this incident was the worst day of their lives and something they would never get over.
