Sentenced: man convicted of attempted murder after Notting Hill drive-by shooting

A man who tried to murder another in a drive-by shooting attack has been jailed for life with a minimum term of 24 years.

Nathan Tokosi, 26, has been sentenced after being found guilty of attempting to murder a man alongside several firearm offences following two trials at the Old Bailey.

In a premediated attack during the early hours of 20 November 2023, Tokosi shot his victim six times through an open car window before being driven away from the scene. The victim was hit in the head, mouth and body and required two lifesaving surgeries.

Before his arrest on 16 February 2024, Tokosi then went on to commit further firearm offences. This included an incident on 3 February 2024 where he refused to pull over for police, proceeding to throw a firearm he possessed out the car window before leaving the scene. He was tried separately for these offences.

Helen Shaw, Senior District Crown Prosecutor for CPS London South said:
“This was an utterly mindless attack which very nearly claimed a life.

"That night, Nathan Tokosi clearly intended to kill his victim by shooting him in the head at a close range, with CCTV revealing Tokosi doing several drives around the area in a stolen Audi in the days and hours before the shooting.

“The Crown Prosecution Service was determined to ensure Tokosi was prosecuted for the full extent of his offending, and we hope today’s sentence will offer some closure to the victim’s family.”

20 November 2023 - Shooting
In order to build the strongest possible case against Tokosi, the CPS worked closely with the Metropolitan Police to prove how he had planned the attack.

This included utilising CCTV footage alongside phone data to show Tokosi familiarising himself with the local area by doing several recces in the area.

On the night of the attack itself, Tokosi collected the stolen Audi and began circling the area. Initially, the victim’s car wasn’t there so the Audi parked up and waited.

The victim then returned in his car and parked outside his mother’s address. Less than two minutes later, the Audi pulled up alongside him, and six shots were fired through the open window from the rear passenger side. The Audi then drove off.

The stolen Audi was then dumped back in its parking spot – along with the firearm used in the shooting.

3 February 2024 - Firearm incident
Shortly after 1am on Saturday 3rd February 2024, Nathan Tokosi was driving a BMW with one other passenger, Ezron Montague, when he was directed by the police to pull over.

Instead of stopping, Tokosi fled and drove the wrong way down a one-way street to escape the pursuit. The car occupants then threw a bag containing a loaded firearm out the window before abandoning the vehicle and absconding.

Tokosi called the police three times to falsely report that his BMW had been stolen from an address in east London.

16 February 2024 - Arrest and charge for attempted murder
Tokosi was arrested by police on 16 February 2024 and remanded into custody. His home was searched and another loaded viable firearm was found.

The following day, Tokosi was charged by our team of out of hours prosecutors who concluded that the serious nature of his offending meant he should not be released on bail.

Conviction and sentencing
Tokosi was found guilty on all counts following two trials. The first, in March 2025, was for attempted murder and possession with intent of the firearm and ammunition used to shoot the victim and possession of the firearm found on 16 February 2024. The second, in November 2025, related to the firearm incident on 3 February 2024.

Tokosi has been sentenced to life imprisonment with a minimum term of 24 years.
