|News, Sexual offences

The Crown Prosecution Service has today announced Tim Westwood has been charged with rape and sexual offences.

Westwood, 68, of Westminster, has been charged with:

  • Nine counts of indecent assault
  • Two counts of sexual assault
  • Four counts of rape

These relate to reported non-recent offences between 1983 and 2016, involving seven women.

Westwood will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 10 November 2025.

Lionel Idan, Chief Crown Prosecutor, said: “The Crown Prosecution Service has decided to prosecute Tim Westwood for a series of serious sexual offences.

“Our prosecutors have established that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest to pursue criminal proceedings.

“The Crown Prosecution Service reminds everyone that criminal proceedings are active, and the defendant has the right to a fair trial.

“It is extremely important that there be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."

This means it is against the law for anyone to publish victims’ names or anything which identifies them as having been the victim of a sexual offence. This includes sharing names on social media.
  • It is not the function of the CPS to decide whether a person is guilty of a criminal offence, but to make fair, independent, and objective assessments about whether it is appropriate to present charges for the criminal court to consider.
