A man has been jailed after sending threatening emails to an MP and greeting the police at his home armed with a crossbow.

Her Majesty's Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate (HMCPSI) have today issued a baseline report following their Inspection of casework quality and the effectiveness of the same across the CPS Cymru-Wales Area. The findings form a baseline against which the Area will be assessed again in 24 months’ time in a follow-up inspection.

The Criminal Justice Joint Inspectorate (CJII) has today 16 July 2021, published a report that considers the police and CPS response to rape. The report is the first of two which, between them will consider the response, decision-making and effectiveness of the police and CPS at every stage of a rape case – from first report through to finalisation of the case. This first phase focuses on those cases where either the police or the CPS made the decision to take no further action (i.e. not to proceed with the case).

In October 2024, the CPS West Midlands Magistrates’ and Crown court units successfully prosecuted various hate crime cases. Below are some of the cases.

Walid Saadaoui, 38, and Amar Hussein, 52, were convicted of making preparations to commit a large-scale terrorist attack, while Walid Saadaoui's younger brother Bilel Saadaoui, 36, was convicted of failing to disclose to authorities the information he knew about their plans, following a trial at Preston Crown Court.
