September Application Window 2025

The September 2025 Application Window is now open on 1 September 2025 and closes at 23:59 on 30 September 2025.

Applicants should ensure they refer to the new checklist available when drafting, and prior to submitting, their application.

New Sensitive Identifying Case Information Guidance

Applicants should familiarise themselves with the new guidance on sensitive identifying case information, available below. Please note, applicants should ensure all identifying case information and personal details (from the ‘examples of your work’ questions) are removed from their application.

RASSO Applications

The CPS accepts applications from experienced Level 2 General Crime list members to join the RASSO Panel.

The CPS has also changed the application process for Level 3 and 4 General Crime members wishing to join the CPS RASSO Panel. This has removed the requirement to submit a written application and supporting reference. Applicants should now contact the Advocate Panel Team via email to request membership of the RASSO Panel. Emails should include details of CPS accredited RASSO training completed or the commitment to complete this training within three months of joining the panel.

For further details regarding these updates, please see the RASSO Panel Selection Criteria.

Magistrates' and Youth Court Panel and Level 1 Applications

Applications to join the Magistrates’ and Youth Court Panel and the General Crime List Level 1 are open all year round.

Temporary Memberships

The application window for temporary memberships for new joiners at levels 2,3 and 4 on the General Crime List is now closed and will reopen on 1 November 2025.

Advocate Panels Refresh – General Crime, RASSO and Specialist Panels

Refreshes of all panels (excluding the Magistrates’ and Youth Court Panel) will now take place in 2026. Unlike previous Refreshes of the panel, the 2026 Refresh will not be linked to earnings data. All active members of the Advocate Panel 2020-2026 will automatically be invited to join the 2027-2030 Advocate Panel. Further details will be sent regarding this process in due course.

Personal Details Updates

If your personal details have changed, for example: your chambers, chambers email address, Circuit choices or preferred Crown Courts, please click on the personal details tab on your Applicant Dashboard to make these changes. The Advocate Panel Team cannot amend email addresses for advocates on the panel, but can assist with making other changes. A helpful explainer video is available on the Advocate Panel Portal link to assist advocates with making any changes to their personal details including changes to, or completing, protected characteristic information.
