Caitlin is a Crown Prosecution Service Crown Advocate. 'I love going to work. It can be stressful at times because each case is really important. And I always want to ensure that I have done the right thing and made the right decision.'

Hear from Mike, Principal Crown Advocate and King's Counsel. 'It's incredibly rewarding, because you are on a daily basis working in cases that really make a difference to people's lives.'

Crown Advocate Level 2

You conduct trials, appeals and non-contested hearings in the magistrates’ and Crown Court. You provide verbal and written advocacy in prosecutions ranging from burglary to assault, presenting cases clearly and persuasively to help us deliver justice for victims of crime. Your development is supported with full training and opportunities to work in increasingly complex cases, including jury trials in the Crown Court.

Crown Advocate Level 3

You conduct jury trials and hearings in serious and complex cases. You review and present evidence in prosecutions ranging from motoring to murder, using your advocacy skills to secure the right outcome in every case. You’re primarily based in the Crown Court - but may also advise in the magistrates’ and youth court, Court of Appeal and straightforward confiscation hearings relating to proceeds of crime.

Senior Crown Advocate (Crown Advocate Level 4)

You conduct jury trials in serious and often high-profile cases. You support investigators by reviewing evidence and providing sound judgement on whether to proceed with prosecution. When a realistic prospect of conviction is found, you work with colleagues from across the criminal justice system to prepare and present cases in the Crown Court and Court of Appeal.

Why you should consider us

Delivering justice is complex with work that's sometimes emotionally challenging. We want our advocates to thrive at work and home, and offer support to achieve a balance - flexible working hours, flexibility to support caring responsibilities and a family friendly approach to work.
