This is my second annual report as Independent Assessor of Complaints (IAC). My first was published jointly with my predecessor Stephen Shaw, with whom I overlapped as IAC for six months to ensure a smooth handover. I joined Stephen as IAC in November 2018, and I became the sole IAC in May 2019. I am grateful to Stephen for his assistance as I settled into the role.

A disqualified driver who crashed his girlfriend’s car, causing her death, has been sentenced. Cameron Jones, 29, was jailed for five years.

A Darlington man who murdered his partner’s infant son has been jailed for life with a minimum of 25 years today at Teesside Crown Court.

A man who sexually assaulted a schoolgirl as she walked home from a library nearly three decades ago has been sentenced at Newport Crown Court.

His Majesty’s Crown Prosecution Service Inspectorate (HMCPSI) has today (10 November 2022) issued a report following its inspection of CPS Thames and Chiltern.

The definition of forced marriage to be used will be in line with the offence under section 121 of the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
