Man jailed over hospital car park rape

A man has been jailed for 11 years and 3 months for raping a woman in a hospital car park in Sussex.

Suleman Mukaish attacked the woman after she left Worthing Hospital on the evening of 11 March 2026.

Mukaish was identified after his handprint and fingerprints were found on a car where the attack took place. When he was arrested, clothing that closely matched what the attacker was wearing was found at his home.

Rebecca Millardship from the Crown Prosecution Service said: “Women should feel safe in public spaces.

“This was an utterly appalling attack by Mukaish who targeted a complete stranger. He overpowered the woman, before dragging her into the car park. None of us can imagine the terror she went through that night.

“Our thoughts remain with the victim in this case, and we hope today’s sentencing brings her some measure of justice.”
