Wiltshire Paedophile Taxi Driver Sent to Prison
Wayne Gainey, aged 38, from Frome was sentenced to seven years and four months in prison.
Gainey sexually assaulted a child and performed sexual acts on himself in his taxi.
Thanks to Wiltshire Police and specially trained prosecutors in the CPS Wessex Rape and Serious Sexual Offences (RASSO) Team, Gainey pleaded guilty under the weight of the evidence presented and has been successfully prosecuted. He will now spend time behind bars and the rest of his life on the sex offenders register.
The CPS is committed to prosecuting cases of rape and sexual assault. Last week the CPS launched RASSO 2025 to make sure offenders of sexual violence are brought to justice and victims of these devastating crimes are properly supported. RASSO 2025 includes a raft of measures to steer our joint work with the police, support our prosecutors to deliver first rate casework every time, and harness the potential of technology to support effective prosecutions. That work is already under way in CPS Wessex and we are working in partnership our police forces to improve our joint delivery of justice for victims.
