Predatory Paedophile Sentenced

|News, Sexual offences

Paedophile James Michael Ford, 30, has been found guilty of abducting a child and sending threatening messages in a sexually motivated crime.

Yesterday, Ford was sentenced to a two-year suspended sentence at Winchester Crown Court. Hampshire Police’s Amberstone team worked closely with the dedicated CPS prosecutors to deliver justice.

Claire Ross, specialist CPS Wessex Prosecutor said “This was a complex case where a predatory paedophile with sexual motives groomed a young girl. Thanks to the partnership between Hampshire’s Amberstone team and CPS Wessex, we were able to deliver justice.

“These types of incidents are rare, and the public should be confident in our commitment to prosecute sexual offences and continue to deliver justice.”

Sophie Stevens, Head of CPS Wessex’s dedicated Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Team said “This was a particularly nasty attack on a vulnerable girl. Rape and sexual assault are devastating crimes that can have a lasting impact on the victims. They are among the most challenging cases to prosecute, every CPS lawyer working on rape and sexual assault prosecutions is a dedicated specialist, highly trained in the complexities of these cases, and independent reviewers have endorsed the quality of their decision making. Whenever the legal test is met, they will prosecute, no matter how challenging the case.

“CPS recently launched RASSO 2025, an ambitious package of measures to make sure offenders of sexual violence are brought to justice and victims of these devastating crimes are properly supported”
