Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge two men with the manslaughter of a man in Windsor.

Ashley Ball, aged 28, of Wheatsheaf Lane, Staines-upon-Thames, Surrey, and Kirk Bentley, aged 31, of Church Street, Staines-upon-Thames, were both charged with manslaughter yesterday, Wednesday, 8 November 2017.

Adrian Foster, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Thames and Chiltern Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) said: "Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a file was forwarded to us to consider whether any criminal charges could be brought against Ashley Ball and Kirk Bentley.

"Having carefully reviewed all of the available evidence, Thames and Chiltern CPS authorised officers from Thames Valley Police to charge Ashley Ball and Kirk Bentley with manslaughter.

"The charges are in connection with an incident, which occurred in the early hours of 10 September 2017, in Goswell Hill, Windsor, where 50-year-old Mohammed Rasheed was assaulted. He, sadly, later died of his injuries in hospital.

"The decision to charge was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Ashley Ball and Kirk Bentley have been released on conditional bail to appear at Slough Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, 12 December 2017.

Criminal proceedings are active and defendants have the right to a fair trial. It is extremely important that there should be no commentary or reporting which could in any way prejudice these proceedings.
