Man sentenced for non-recent sexual abuse

Maurice Wall (76), of Burnham on Sea, Somerset appeared at Bristol Crown Court (yesterday 30th October) for sentencing having pleaded guilty to a series of historic sexual offences.

The prolonged abuse of his victim took place over a sustained period of time.

Sentencing him, Recorder of Bristol, Judge Peter Blair QC said: "It has had long-lasting physiological effects upon your victim, for which you must have proper punishment."

Wall was sentenced to 15 years and 11 months and must register as a sex offender for life and is barred from working with children and vulnerable adults.

Senior Crown Prosecutor, CPS South West Kathryn Jones said: "This has been an extremely distressing case for the victim and I must commend the bravery shown. I hope the sentence today brings some closure and now allows the victim to move forward."
