Man jailed for unprovoked attack in Bristol
Mangal Ahmadzai, 27, has been sentenced to two years and three months' imprisonment at Bristol Crown Court.
Ahmadzai from Bristol pleaded guilty to GBH with intent and possession of an offensive weapon. The offence occurred in the Stapleton area of Bristol on 8 January 2020.
Alison Longhorn of CPS South West said: “This was a senseless attack on an innocent member of the public who was trying to help defuse an argument.”
“The defendant took exception to this and launched an unprovoked attack on the victim by punching him in the face and then attacking him with a screwdriver.”
“I hope his conviction and the sentence imposed today show that if someone makes the decision to carry a weapon and use it they will be prosecuted and likely face a prison sentence.”
