Foreword
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) plays a crucial role in the criminal justice system (CJS), working with the police and courts to bring criminals to justice, support victims and witnesses, and ensure public safety. The aim of the CPS is to deliver justice through independent, fair, and effective public prosecutions. The business plan outlines how we will achieve this by increasing capability, improving casework quality, reducing delays, and building trust.
Despite operating in an uncertain and changing world with high and complex caseloads, we are determined to improve our service to victims and work effectively with criminal justice partners to tackle shared challenges. The organisation is dedicated and adaptable, with 14 geographical areas and CPS Direct providing swift service across England and Wales.
The commitment of our staff is exceptional, and there are opportunities for continuous improvement. The organisation aims to become more effective and collaborative, delivering the best possible service to victims and earning public trust.
