Our year in numbers
In the fourth year reporting against objectives set out in our CPS 2025 strategy, we have...

- Prosecuted over 419,000 cases, with four in every five leading to a guilty plea or verdict
- Seen tangible results in adult rape cases through a focus on casework quality and cross criminal justice system strategy – since the launch of the Joint National Action Plan in January 2021 there has been a 95% increase referrals for a charging decision, and a 152% increase in charge volumes of adult rape flagged* cases (between Q3 23/24 and Q3 20/21)
- Continued work to improve public confidence, including growing our Instagram following by 70%, our community newsletter reach by 100% and answering 60 parliamentary questions
- Met our resourcing commitment in the cross-Government Rape Review, recruiting 194 specialist, trained staff into our rape and
serious sexual offences teams - Contributed to the enforcement of over £105 million from CPS-obtained confiscation orders to deprive thousands of criminals of their ill-gotten gains
- Entered into our first ever deferred prosecution agreement for £615 million
- Improved efficiency and timeliness of casework, launching new casework tools which have freed up over 36,000 working hours
And much more…
Thank you to all our staff for their hard work and continued dedication to delivering justice
