London South: recently prosecuted rape and serious sexual offences

R v Robbie Winter

A registered sex offender who breached his conditions by making indecent photographs of children was jailed for 21 months. Robbie Winter, 25, from Mitcham, had a various prohibited images of cartoon depictions of young children under 10 engaged in sexual activity on his computer when police attended his home for an announced visit. He was sentenced at Kingston Crown Court where he was also given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. 

R v Roy Reid 

A social worker who accidentally sent an indecent video of a child to colleagues in a WhatsApp group chat was jailed. Roy Reid, 58, from Catford was employed at Croydon Children’s Services when he sent the video in a group chat set up to arrange a leaving celebration for a colleague. He was jailed for four-and-a-half years at Kingston Crown Court and given a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. 

R v Kevin Davis 

A man who sent sexual and explicit images to a 10-year-old and two 11-year-old girls over Instagram has been put on the sex offenders register for 10 years. Kevin Davis, 54, from Surbiton was also given a two-year prison sentence suspended for two years and made to carry out 100 hours of unpaid work for the offences when he appeared at Kingston Crown Court. Davis had previously pleaded guilty to a string of offences including counts of causing a child to watch a sexual act and causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. 

R v Victor Jacob

A former school caretaker and scout leader who groomed and sexually abused five young boys across three decades was jailed for 25 years. Victor Jacob, 76, from Macclesfield was in a position of trust when he abused his victims. Two of the victims were siblings while none of the other victims were known to each other. Some of the abuse took place on school grounds in Bromley against particularly vulnerable victims. Alongside his prison sentence, Jacob was also given a sexual harm prevention order for life. 

R v Mohamad Mahmoad

A man who stalked and raped his victim twice was sentenced to 12 years' imprisonment. Mohamad Mahmoad, 39, from Ealing was convicted of his crimes following a trial at Southwark Crown Court. The offending took place in Westminster between February and March 2019. The court also ordered an indefinite restraining order.
