Man sentenced for raping children

|News, Sexual offences

A man who raped and sexually assaulted two children has been sentenced at Mold Crown Court.

David Hayes, 40, was convicted of twelve offences against the children, after a jury heard evidence from them about what Hayes had done.

Both children were under the age of ten when the abuse started, and it continued for over two-and-a-half years.

Despite leaving the UK, Hayes was brought back from Spain to face trial.

Iwan Jenkins of the CPS said: “Hayes forced himself upon two children, repeatedly abusing them for his own pleasure.

“The CPS presented a strong case to the jury resulting in these convictions, which is a testament to the courage the children have shown.

“Whilst the convictions cannot change what happened we hope they will help the children in moving on with their lives.”

Hayes was sentenced to a total of 23 years' imprisonment on 25 March 2019, ordered to register as a sex offender for life, and had a 10-year restraining order imposed.
