Crown Advocacy Unit

CPS Yorkshire and Humberside has a team of 42 Crown Advocates. Crown Advocates are either solicitors or barristers based across our three district offices in Hull, Leeds & Bradford.

They are qualified to appear in the Crown Court and do so on almost a daily basis.

The advocates work as a team with investigating police officers, lawyers and caseworkers to bring together all their experience to build the best possible cases for court.

The advocates deal with cases right across the spectrum of Crown Court business from straightforward thefts and assaults to rapes, serious sexual offences, complicated frauds and murders.

Crown Advocates are crucial to strengthen the prosecution process and bring offenders to justice. They perform high quality in-house advocacy across the seven Crown Courts we cover in this region and the Court of Appeal.

Our Crown Advocates receive training online, from our own senior Crown Advocate staff and from an innovative range of face to face training received from a number of Chambers across the Area.
