Supplier of Lethal Drug Jailed for Six Years Five Months


Luke Carey was sentenced to six years and five months at leeds crown Court today in prison for supplying a Class A drug which killed a young woman from York.

Michael Quinn, Senior District Crown Prosecutor, CPS Yorkshire and Humberside said:

"This was a terribly tragic case and our thoughts are with Poppys family and friends today.  The terrible circumstances of this case emphasise the dangers of possessing and supplying illegal drugs to others. The CPS, working with the police, is committed to ensuring that offenders in this type of case are brought to justice.   Poppy lost her life needlessly and we hope that the sentence handed down today sends out a clear message of the awful consequences that can occur.   At the CPS we are committed to prosecuting this kind of offending robustly."
