Mark Brannan has today been sentenced to five and a half years imprisonment at Grimsby Crown Court after waging a campaign of escalating intimidation and violence against the father of his former fiancée.

CPS Crown Advocate Jeremy Evans said: "Mark Brannan waged a campaign of escalating intimidation and violence damaging the victim's property; bombarding him with up to 20 phone calls a day, some of them silent, some abusive and threatening, and posting defamatory messages on social media. This culminated with him throwing a home-made petrol bomb at the victim's house, leaving the victim and his wife in fear for their safety.

"Brannan pleaded guilty to harassment putting a person in fear of threats of violence, and attempted arson. Today he has been sentenced to five and a half years and I hope this brings his victim some measure of comfort and reassaurance."
