CPS Yorkshire and Humberside response to HMCPSI inspection

The Crown Prosecution Service in Yorkshire and Humberside has strong leadership and communications, works effectively with its criminal justice partners and is committed to delivering staff engagement and development according to a report published today by Her Majesty's CPS Inspectorate.

The report praises the level of service provided and recognises the Area is efficient and effective being rated as excellent on continuous improvement and resource management. The report also acknowledges that the Area needs to improve some aspects of its casework.

Gerry Wareham, Chief Crown Prosecutor for Yorkshire and Humberside said: "We welcome the report as it is always useful to have an independent view of the work we do. Having just joined the Area I am particularly delighted at the positive findings highlighted in the report, especially those around supporting the success of our people and ensuring they are involved at all levels in decisions affecting them. They are a real credit to my predecessor and I am fortunate and proud to lead an Area with such strong foundations.

"We do also recognise the need to make improvements in certain aspects of our casework delivery, and have already developed plans to ensure these are delivered in the coming months".
