Bradford teenager jailed for rape of 86 year old and sexual assault of 17 year old

A Bradford teenager was jailed for three years and had his name added to the sex offenders' register for life for raping an 86 year old woman and sexually assaulting a 17 year old, CPS West Yorkshire announced today.

Welcoming the sentence today, Crown Prosecutor Amanda McInnes from CPS West Yorkshire's Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Unit said:

"This was an extremely distressing case involving the rape of a vulnerable elderly lady on Christmas Day by someone who was responsible for her care. It is hard to imagine a greater breach of trust, and the case has understandably caused this ladys family much anguish.

"The same  defendant  has also pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting a young female colleague. This demonstrates a very alarming pattern of behaviour in a young defendant, involving sexual crimes committed upon two victims at opposite ends of the age spectrum. He is very clearly a danger to women.

"I would especially like to thank the younger victim, whose bravery and determination in giving evidence to the police helped us to build a robust prosecution case and secure guilty pleas from the defendant.

"I hope that todays sentence goes some way to helping the two victims to recover from their experiences and begin to rebuild their lives."
