CPS Clamps Down on Metal Theft

The CPS is preparing new legal guidance for prosecutors on offences under the Theft Acts will, for the first time, include specific advice for prosecutors on dealing with the theft of metal. Nine Defendants sentenced in Leeds Sham Marriage Case

The defendants Usman, Mughal and Gardazi were Pakistani men living in the UK on expired student visas. They, along with the defendant Khan, all applied for permission to marry Slovakian women who were living legitimately in the UK. The purpose of these marriages was to secure themselves the right to remain in the United Kingdom indefinitely.
