Welcome to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) for Yorkshire and Humberside.

The CPS is responsible for prosecuting criminal cases investigated by the police in England and Wales.

In order to do this effectively we work closely with our criminal justice partners including the Police, the Courts, the Probation Service, Prisons and Youth Offending Teams. We also work closely with Victim Support to ensure victims receive the support they need.

In this website we explain what we do and how we are striving to improve justice and put the needs of victims and witnesses at the forefront of our work.

CPS West Yorkshire

Neil Franklin Chief Crown Prosecutor for West Yorkshire

In West Yorkshire the CPS have offices in Leeds and Bradford. West Yorkshire's population is just over two million, 11.4% of whom are from Black and Minority Ethnic (BME) communities.  Its main urban centres are Leeds, Bradford, Halifax, Huddersfield, Brighouse, Dewsbury, Wetherby and Wakefield.

CPS North Yorkshire

The CPS currently has offices in York, Harrogate and Scarborough. North Yorkshire, at 3,000 square miles, is England's largest county, and home to approximately half a million residents. Overwhelmingly rural, the principal urban areas are York, Harrogate and Scarborough. Elsewhere it is a sparsely populated county with only three other towns of over 15,000 people.

CPS South Yorkshire

Naheed Hussain, Chief Crown Prosecutor for South Yorkshire

South Yorkshire, home to more than 1.3 million people, covers Barnsley, Doncaster, Rotherham and, England's fourth largest city, Sheffield.

For the last two years South Yorkshire has maintained an 'Excellent' rating from Her Majesty's Inspectorate of CPS.

CPS Humberside

Situated on the east coast of the country, half way between London and Edinburgh, the CPS in Humberside covers the districts of North Lincolnshire, North east Lincolnshire, East Riding of Yorkshire and the urban area of Kingston upon Hull.
