Equal Opportunities

Positive About Disabled PeopleThe CPS is an equal opportunities employer, and its policies, including the need to guard against false assumptions based on an officer’s sex or marital status, gender reassignment, sexual orientation, colour, race, religion, ethnic or national origin, work pattern, ie part-time working, age or disability, must be followed at all stages of the selection procedure. The CPS is also a Disability Symbol user. In the light of this, all staff with a disability who satisfy the minimum criteria for advertised vacancies in the CPS will be invited for interview.

Crown Advocate Opportunities

Advocacy in the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS)

People want many different things in life. But one thing which everybody wants is justice. Our work as public prosecutors underpins our successful democratic society and we are very proud of what we do.

Over the past few years the CPS has made huge progress in achieving its vision of becoming a world class prosecuting authority. We are justifiably proud of our achievements, as well as those of our partner agencies within the criminal justice system. The number of offences brought to justice is now higher than ever, criminals are being denied the opportunity to benefit from proceeds of crime, and public confidence in our work is growing.

The CPS exists to serve the public of England and Wales and to make our communities safer. We handle in excess of one million cases each year, almost 100,000 of which are heard in the Crown Court. Our role has been transformed over the past few years and we are now involved in all aspects of prosecution - from initial charging decisions through case-building to advocacy and, most importantly, pro-active victim and witness care.

The Advocacy Programme is designed to ensure that the CPS becomes an organisation which routinely conducts its own high quality advocacy in all courts, and across the full range of cases. Crown Advocates/Senior Crown Advocates are a vital part of the Programme's success. The CPS offers superb opportunities for career development through our newly defined career path.

If you are a skilled advocate with a passion for justice, make the commitment today and contact our lead consultants in our dedicated recruitment centre: John Ellam/Jamie Booth on 0151 239 6587.
