Justice Awards 2007
The Justice Awards 2007 is a campaign in its fourth year which aims to seek out the criminal justice champions who go the extra mile in their working lives.
Baroness Scotland set up the Justice Awards in 2004 to recognise the outstanding contribution of staff and volunteers working in the Criminal Justice System in England and Wales and since then the Awards have gone from strength to strength.
The Local Criminal Justice Board encourages staff to nominate a person who works exceptionally hard and who inspires others or makes a difference. There are 15 categories to choose from and this year also includes a new category which specifically recognises the work of volunteers.
The Awards have a beneficial effect in many ways. Not only does it ensure that we applaud the dedicated efforts of our staff and volunteers, it brings pride to criminal justice agencies and the work they do. It also produces positive stories in the media which goes a long way to promoting understanding and increasing confidence in the criminal justice system.
The online nomination form is available right now and nominations can be submitted up until 3rd August 2007. Please go to http://justiceawards.cjsonline.gov.uk/
To highlight the good work of the nominees, the West Yorkshire Criminal Justice Board will hold a special local awards ceremony in September ahead of the announcement of the national finalists in early October.
