Metropolitan police officer jailed for having extreme image on his mobile phone

|News, Cyber / online crime

A police officer with the Metropolitan Police has been sentenced today (17 March 2023) at Portsmouth Crown Court after an extreme pornographic image was found on his phone.

Liam Boshein, aged 25 from Portsmouth, admitted being in possession of the extremely explicit image, having also sent it on to a friend via Whatsapp.

He was sentenced to 42 weeks’ imprisonment.

Ruth Sands, CPS Wessex Senior Crown Prosecutor, said: “The image found on Liam Boshein’s phone was frankly repulsive and certainly not something that the public would expect a police officer to have in his possession.

“The public rightly expects police officers to act with integrity and to uphold the law to keep our communities safe.

“We will continue to prosecute anyone who commits a criminal offence whenever our legal test is met.”
