About Sophie Stevens

Sophie Stevens is the Senior District Crown Prosecutor for North Wessex and the Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Unit (RASSO). Sophie oversees North Hampshire and Wiltshire which includes Winchester Crown Court, Salisbury and Swindon Crown Courts and Magistrates Courts from Chippenham and Basingstoke to Salisbury. She joined the CPS in July 2006 having worked as a defence solicitor for six years in Portsmouth. Prior to that Sophie worked as a solicitor in Hong Kong where she studied and trained. She is a Higher Court Advocate and has taken the lead on prosecutions relating to football matters in Portsmouth. Sophie also leads the monitoring of the Core Quality Standards.

Welcome to North Wessex .

North Wessex has in the region of 26 lawyers, seven Associate Prosecutors and 41 support staff including Paralegal Business Managers, Paralegal officers, Assistants, Casework Assistants and reprographics.

CPS Wessex Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Unit (RASSO) has over 11 lawyers  and ten support staff and has a base in Portsmouth, Chippenham and Bournemouth.

North Wessex deals with a wide range of cases. Indeed North Wessex dealt with the first successful prosecution for an honour based violence crime in Hampshire.

The public' s right to live in safety and to be protected from criminal conduct lies at the heart of the Criminal justice system and we at North Wessex will continue to protect the public by prosecuting firmly and fairly and will do so in an open, transparent and independent way. Our duty is serve our communities and to do justice in every case.
