Portsmouth man charged with murder after torso found on beach


A 46-year-old man from Richmond Road in Southsea, Portsmouth has been charged with murder following the discovery of a torso on Southsea beach in Portmouth on July 3.

Nick Hawkins, Chief Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) Wessex said: "I have been working closely with the Hampshire Constabulary Major Investigation Team and have today authorised Hampshire Constabulary to charge David Hilder, aged 46, from Southsea, with the murder of David Guy, aged 30, from Southsea. This follows the discovery of a male torso on Southsea beach in Portsmouth on July 3. The decision was taken in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors.

The defendant will appear at Portsmouth Magistrates Court on July 10.
