Hampshire: McNamara and Carter sentenced for attempted murder

Two men were today sentenced to fifteen years in prison for attempting to kill a man by viciously assaulting him and throwing him from a third floor balcony.

Michael Carter (42) from Portsmouth and Wesley McNamara (31) from Southsea were sentenced at Portsmouth Crown Court. They attacked Miroslav Chodilik after inviting him back to Michael Carter's flat on 15 March 2009.

Following the sentence Mary-Ruth Johnson, Crown Advocate for CPS Hampshire & Isle of Wight, said: "This was a savage and wholly unjustified attack on Miroslav Chodilik. The level of violence was obscene and it was clear that the two men did not care whether their victim lived or died.

"Miroslav Chodilik was severely injured after he was set upon and then thrown from the third floor balcony. Today's sentence means that two serious offenders have been brought to justice."
