Man charged with the murder of Katrina O’Hara

Thomas Stuart, 49, from Dorset has been today charged with the murder of Katrina O'Hara, 44, who was stabbed at Jocks Barbers in Blandford Forum, Dorset, on Thursday 7 January 2016.

John Montague, Senior District Crown Prosecutor for the Crown Prosecution Service in Wessex, said: "I have today authorised Dorset Police to charge Thomas Stuart with the murder of Katrina O'Hara, who died after being stabbed twice in the chest on Thursday 7 January 2016.

"It is alleged that Thomas Stuart is responsible for the murder of Ms O'Hara.

"I carefully reviewed all the available evidence provided to me by Dorset Police, and in accordance with the Code for Crown Prosecutors, I am satisfied that there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction and it is in the public interest to prosecute Thomas Stuart with this offence.

"He will appear at Bournemouth Magistrates Court on Thursday 14 January 2016.

"Proceedings are now ongoing and the defendant has the right to a fair trial. It is very important that there should be no reporting, commentary or sharing of information online which could in any way prejudice these proceedings."
