Man charged with racist abuse outside nightclub in Bournemouth

A man has been charged with a racially aggravated offence following an incident outside a nightclub in Bournemouth on 19 October.

Sibylle Cheruvier, Senior Crown Prosecutor for CPS Wessex said: " have authorised Dorset Police to charge Paul John Lewis Hardcastle, 21, from Romford, Essex with a racially aggravated offence following an incident that happened outside the Lava and Ignite Nightclub in Bournemouth on 19 October.

"It is alleged that the defendant racially abused a group of men after having been escorted out from the club where he was playing with his band.

"I have carefully reviewed the file of evidence provided to me by the police and I am satisfied that there is sufficient evidence and that it is in the public interest to charge Paul John Lewis Hardcastle with a racially aggravated offence under section 5 of the Public Order 1986.

"This decision was made in accordance to the Code for Crown Prosecutors."

Hardcastle will appear at Bournemouth Magistrates Court on 12 January 2012.
